So this "yet to be named" club should appropriately be called the Sh*thouse, if you ask us. Rumor has it that they're trying to turn it into an upscale lounge club, which will ultimately get lost in translation as it did with NV and Life. Does anone really think that $1 pitchers, Top 40 music, nickel nights and beer pong will appeal to the so-called upscale crowd? The Pourhouse has specialized in this act for ages and appeals to the lowest-of-the-nightclub-low. It won't be any surprise to us when they go trash from the get go.
Now that you know how "cool" this place will be, we'd love to hear your thoughts on what the owners should name it. Any ideas?

Any place that offers dirt-cheap drinks attract the lowest of the low crowds. Regardless of how the place looks.

At least it is something. I think you should go after the people who don't care about Hartford, like the owners of empty buildings, the stores that won't open on Sundays (Hello, Starbucks!!! what about your mission to improve the community????)
I do not go into anything that resembles a "college bar." We don't need a place that charges $12 for a martini, but we don't need to go in the other direction either...the lcd joints that makes up the bar district.
Does anyone know what's going on with Barcelona on Congress? It's been closed for awhile now.
Barcelona was cool but that neighborhood needs help. No parking and to walk from downtown there is kind of sketchy because of South Green.
The "clubs" in downtown Hartford are not nightclubs at all. They are college bars.
Just stay downtown and avoid the college kids. There's nothing wrong with a Pourhouse-type place, you're not forced to go there. The bars downtown are pretty decent and, as someone who works in Hartford and lives here, I like heading out after to work downtown.
Vaughn's is a great place, especially food-wise. I don't particularly care for it but girls I know like Dish. And Trumbull Kitchen is usually a good time. Who cares about the Brickyard? Did anyone go there anyway?
To be fair...my favorite bar is Mad Dawg's. If you're going to be a dive bar, at least do it in style.
I think they should call the new bar "The Dickyard" and reach out more to the frat brother community. No girls allowed, just big ugly frat brothers.
